Employers need Employment nowWorld over entrpreneurs have created many jobs for others. The entrpreneur is one who gives creative response to the business environment. He has workable idea , puts his money ,borrows money, takes all risk on his head and starts a business venture. In the process he gives an opportunity to suppliers ,machinery manufacturers ,electricity consumption , local economy and most important is Local Employment.The business has ups and down but the entrpreneur does everything possible to see that his employees are paid salary on time. The monthly budget of employees depends on salary which they receive.The Employer is the one who ensures this.However today same Employer has come on the road.The Pandemic has taken toll on every business.Typical things that have happened are as follows# Reduced order flow# Rise in raw material cost.#Rising fuel costs resulting into rising transportation costs# Electricity rates revision by utilities.# Money stuck up with the customers.# Covid infections among employees , their family members leading to long abscentism.# Non availability of public transport.# Abscence of national lockdown during Covid2. This has resulted into client's not giving extension in delivery date.# Moratorium on loans not granted during Covid 2# Lenders withdrawing their supportAll the above factors have lead to heavy losses in the business. The business ventures have become unviable.There are other sector specific issues* Steel industry has suffered due to non availability of the Industrial Oxygen* Construction industry due to non availability of labour , cement and reinforcement.* Hospitality industry has buckled completely. Hyatt Regency indicated that they do not have money to pay wages and closed their operations.* Retail industry suffered due to reduced foot fall.* Entertainment industry revenue reduced and resources have dried up.*Tourist Operators have closed their shops.The Government took following measures this year.# Extended free grain scheme to those who are below poverty line.(PMGKAY)# Labour ministry paid wages to the workers.# Extended due dates for filing tax returnsHowever these measures have covered only section of the population. Many entrepreneurs have suffered heavily and they had to fold up their businesses and now forced to look for employment elsewhere.Many have lost their life savings. They were hoping that things will improve after the first wave. However that possibility was seen for some time but then second wave came. Thereafter Delta variant and expected third wave.What Government can do to retain jobs of millions ?# Increase buying#Control fuel and electricity costs.# Extend concessions granted during Covid 1 to Covid 2 period and may be Covid3 spell.# Encourage investments which can generate employment.If we do not pay attention to woes of employers then it would lead to rise in unemployment and also make possibilities of new employment almost NIL.(DPK Udas)
